Tarifa|Tangier African Film Festival — FCAT

From
23/4/25
 to
1/5/25

The African Film Festival of Tarifa - Tangier, from April 23 to May 1, 2025, once again establishes itself as a must-attend event to explore the cinematic transformations in Africa. This new hybrid and bold edition looks towards the future of the seventh art and the cultural relations between both shores of the Mediterranean.

An enriched program and new initiatives

Meetings between professionals, masterclasses from international experts and a project market where awards will be awarded are among the flagship activities. Particular emphasis is placed on dialogue, with a round table organized as part of the “Tree of Words” forum, available via streaming to broaden its audience. This year, the festival is innovating with a workshop specialized in post-production and a geographical extension to Ceuta, thus strengthening its regional roots.

Questions at the heart of the debates

This edition invites us to reflect on major themes: does Spanish cinema know how to respond to current transformations? What image of Africa is emerging from new productions? Can cinema become a bridge to redefine relationships between Spain and Africa? These questions will be raised by filmmakers, critics and journalists during rich and stimulating discussions.

A festival committed to the audiovisual landscape

A member of PANTALLA, the National Federation of Film Festivals and Audiovisual Content, the Tarifa - Tangier African Film Festival is part of a network of 179 festivals spread across 14 regions of Spain, attracting one million spectators each year. True to its values, it advocates diversity, plurality and excellence, while giving voice to new African perspectives.

With this edition, the festival confirms its vocation: to be a space for meetings and exchanges that celebrates the richness of African cinema while opening windows on intercultural collaborations that hold the future.
